Shrewsbury, MA- Supercon Inc. has manufactured and supplied production quantities of high-quality superconducting wire longer than any other firm in the world. Customers include most of the major accelerator projects. Founded by Dr. James Wong in 1962, the company has been recognized four times with the receipt of “R&D 100 Awards” for technical innovation. Supercon’s Standard products feature niobium-titanium and niobium-tin superconducting wires as well as other alloys including ternary alloys of Nb-Ti-Ta and NbTi superconducting switch wire, with a highly resistive Cu-Ni alloy matrix, which is a standard for use in superconducting switches. According to Terry Wong, president of Supercon, “Our goal is to partner with customers and offer them a superior combination of responsiveness and technical capability in order to meet their requirements for performance, configuration, and quantities delivered on time.” Supercon can provide copper-to-superconductor ratios from less than one to greater than 10-to-1 with conductors ranging from one filament up to several thousand filaments, depending upon the operational requirements of a customer’s conductor. Round and shaped conductors are available in virtually any size and the company specializes in product development. For more information contact: Supercon Inc.
